What scares children (may scare adults too)

Have you heard of The Monster Engine? The Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten ran an article about it in its weekend magazine of February 17th. I’m posting the link to The Monster Engine website so you can see what Dave Devries, who started it, does, as well as his amazing artwork based on the drawings of children. And not just any drawings, but drawings of what scares them. Some of them scared me!

He also has a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/TheMonsterEngine.DaveDeVries

Update: new writing projects

In a creative period–must be the effect of the winter weather–a lot of indoor time. Working on three different writing projects–a sci-fi novel that I am nearly finished with, that I started during the month of November 2011 for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). I’m also putting together a book of short stories about all kinds of relationships, and finishing up yet another book about the business world. Where do I find the time to do all this after my full-time job as a researcher? I don’t know honestly, but I do know that I love writing so much that none of the time I use on it feels like work. I get re-energized every time I sit down to write.  Stay tuned for more updates. In the meantime, if you check the BOOKS section of this website, you’ll find the two books that I’ve published during the past several years. My book about passive-aggressive bosses is selling steadily, and seems to be more relevant now than when I wrote it. Especially when I read about or witness what is going on in different workplaces around the world.

Update: A little photo project for the Science Library at the University of Oslo

I took some photos for the University of Oslo’s Science Library in December 2011. The library is in the process of consolidating eight separate science and math libraries into one large Science Library that will be moving into the newly-renovated Vilhelm Bjerknes’ building on the Blindern campus. I was asked to take some night photos outside the new building as well as to take some indoor photos on one of our inspection tours of the building. Here they are. http://www.ub.uio.no/om/aktuelt/aktuelle-saker/ureal/2012/overtakelse.html

Update: January 2012

Welcome to my new website. I needed more flexibility without having to use a lot of time on web design and on using web design software every time I wanted to post an update. This was the perfect solution. I will be using this site as my main website, and will update it periodically, so please check in from time to time to find out about what’s going on.

I was also very pleased to find out that my blog, Of the Angels Designs http://oftheangelsdesigns.wordpress.com/ was nominated for the Versatile Blogger award on WordPress in December 2011 by Sugarblast http://sugarblast.com/, who is an amazing and creative artist. Even if I don’t win, I’m just incredibly grateful to have been nominated!
